Description
Perfect for high school Chemistry students, this lab introduces the comparison between accuracy and precision in scientific measurements. This is a fun chemistry activity for the first week of school when students are just reviewing how to make accurate measurements and can be a good introduction to significant digits.
NOTE: This lab is also part of my Full Chemistry Curriculum.
This accuracy and precision lab involves three parts:
- Students drop markers on a target to determine the accuracy and precision of their marks
- Students draw circles estimated to be 5 cm, then measure the accuracy and precision of their drawings
- Students measure their height with a ruler and meter stick or tape measure then use the percent error formula to analyze their measurements
Included in this resource:
- Teacher instructions and materials list

- Answer key to student worksheet
- Quick check to assess student understanding after activity
