Intro to Biology First Day Stations

$4.75

Description

Tired of reading the syllabus on the first day of Biology? Start your year with some fun Biology activities instead! These station lab activities are the perfect way to introduce biology topics and assess students’ prior knowledge as you get back to school. Your students will love learning and collaborating as they work through each station!

Please note: This activity is also part of my Unit 1: Intro to Biology and the Full-Year Biology Curriculum.

Included in this resource:

  • A teacher instruction page with materials list for each station (see necessary materials below)
  • 8 stations with background reading, full-color pictures, and discussion questions
  • Student lab worksheet for recording answers
  • Answer key

Topics addressed within this product:

  • Station 1: Lab Equipment Review
  • Station 2: Interpreting Line Graphs
  • Station 3: Making Observations and Drawing Conclusions
  • Station 4: Microscopes
  • Station 5: Hereditary Traits
  • Station 6: Fields of Biology
  • Station 7: Homeostasis
  • Station 8: Diversity of Living Things

Necessary materials:

beaker, graduated cylinder, blank microscope slide, 3 dropper bottles, cup of water, cup of rubbing alcohol, 2 pennies, paper towels, colored pencils or markers

Students are not expected to be able to answer every question at each station. The idea of this activity is to introduce students to the concepts of Biology and assess any prior knowledge about life science from previous courses.

Students can work in pairs or groups. If you prefer for each student to work individually, just make a few extra sets of the station cards!
