The scenarios in this lesson provide examples of NGSS phenomena to show how titration calculations can be used to solve real-life problems in areas such as medicine, food science, environmental monitoring, and fuel production.

Students are given background on a titration scenario and the relevant data. Using these titrant measurements, they find the average volume of titrant used and calculate the concentration of the analyte through stoichiometric and molarity calculations.

This resource is perfect for extending thinking on a topic or for use as a sub plan. Thorough answer keys with calculations are included.

• 1 example scenario is provided so you can guide the class through the necessary calculations
• 6 additional scenarios are provided for students to complete on scrap paper or whiteboards. When they’re finished, they can swap the problems with another student or group to check their answers.
