Description
How many Biology prefixes and suffixes do your students know? If you’re incorporating these Biology terms into your course, why not give them a quick introduction?
This “pretest” provides an opportunity for students to show what they know about Greek and Latin prefixes and suffixes.
NOTE: This pretest is included in the Unit 1: Intro to Biology and the Full-Year Biology Curriculum.
I like to use this pretest on one of the first days of high school Biology. It’s a great reminder of some life science concepts they’ve learned in the past and helps students identify some of the terminology they may already recognize.
Rather than using this as an official assessment, this worksheet is better used as an introduction. A post-test is not provided, but this worksheet could be shown again at the end of the year to assess student learning throughout the course.
Two versions of this pretest are included: one with 20 terms and one with 26 terms.
Included in this resource:
- Teacher tips
- 1 matching pretest with 20 prefixes, suffixes, and roots (each term is followed by an example word)
- 1 matching pretest with 26 prefixes, suffixes, and roots (each term is followed by an example word)
- Answer keys for both versions
This resource is NOT editable.
